The first Mangala tournament in Latvia
On Dec 6th at Olaine city was held the tournament of Turkish intellectual board game Mangala.
The tournament was attended by 50 students from 11 schools of Olaine, Ozolnieki, Jelgava and Riga regions. The youngest player was 6 years old, but the oldest participant was 16 years old.
Tournament was held by Swiss system in atmosphere of solemnity and friendship. In total 9 rounds were played. Participants played blitz with 4 minutes for each.
Jury (L.Azimova, - main judge, P.Filatov, G.Blumbahs) and 10 official observers closely monitored the progress of the battles according to rules.
The tournament was visited by Mr. Cemal Erbay – the first counsellor of the embassy of the Republic of Turkey. Our players surprised Mr. Cemal by their attitude to Turkish intellectual game, quickness of mind and self-control during parties.
At the end of game Mr. Cemal spoke about the history of the game and personally congratulated the winners.
